Good News - #19

Three stories intended to show there is good stuff happening in the world all the time. (Due to the dynamic nature of news I do not know how long any of the links will remain active).

Amazing medical breakthroughs make 'impossible' science fiction a reality. The ability to control prosthetic limbs with thought, along with the eventual ability to feel temperature and texture are one example of that reality.

Frequent reports of our credit card information being compromised can cause anxiety. After all, what can be done? The answer to that is 'plenty'. A home shopping network shows how practical prevention keeps consumers safer.

Fletcherizing, Atkins, Scarsdale, South Beach, low-fat, no-fat, Pritikin, cabbage soup, grapefruit, Hollywood Detox, blah, blah, blah. What do they all have in common? They are all fad diets. Now, the American Heart Association has published No-Fad Diet: A Personal Plan for Helathy Weight Loss.

I consider the Good News to be an inoculation against all the negative news that seems to get the bulk of coverage. To paraphrase a line from a mega-successful movie franchise: "May the Good News be with you".
